ResearchThe operations of the University Consortium of Seinäjoki are research oriented. The quantity and quality of research work has been improved through considerable subregional work known under the name of EPANET (the South Ostrobothnian University Network). Those involved in this co-operation are the universities of Tampere, Helsinki and Vaasa, the Sibelius Academy, Tampere University of Technology, Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences and developer organisations operating in the area. The research areas are information technology, business knowhow, foodstuffs and materials technology, also regions and well-being. In the funding of research group leaders, professors and research directors’ tasks, co-operation of the public and private sectors will be utilised. Some 100 private enterprises, all the municipalities of South Ostrobothnia and all the developer organisations in the area have participated in the funding of these key functions. The companies involved include a comprehensive range of top regional enterprises. Those involved in co-operation include numerous national technology leaders and large national export companies.
