Norsa 2010 offers not only a scientific programme, but also a variety of excursions to real-life local development. The excursions have been selected to present the varying businesses and development efforts of the South Ostrobothnia region. Vanha Paukku cultural centre presents the transformation of old industry premises into new use in cultural services. Pohjanmaan Nikkarikeskus and Technology centre Logistia present technology promotion through technology centres, but this time in a small town scale, outside any busy city-regions. Powerpark and Bros. Keskinen Village shop, on the other hand, show the power of individual entrepreneurs working for their dreams outside any formal development programmes.

Conference excursion and Dinner
POWERPARK
The conference excursion and dinner will take place in Powerpark amusement center. It was established in 2000 and is an all-year open amusement centre of international level. It has become a central tourist attraction in Ostrobothnia. The 100-hectare park has been developed around the Mika Salo Circuit – kart racing track. There are also Europe’s largest indoor kart racing hall, amusement park, hotel, several restaurants, camp site, shopping street and horse center. What is interesting in Powerpark, apart its wide variety of amusements, is that it is 'a one man's dream', built by a prosperous multi branch entrepreneur Jorma Lillbacka to his home community, far away from the main tourist flows of southern Finland.

VANHA PAUKKU CULTURAL CENTRE, LAPUA
(25 km from Seinäjoki)
The Cultural Centre is created at the old industrial premises of the former Lapua cartridge factory. The majority of cultural and museum services of Lapua are clustered around the area of Vanha Paukku Cultural Centre ( please see p. 12-13 for Vanha Paukku). The oldest building is Big Factory which was originally built to serve as a paper mill in 1918. The building was renovated for the State Cartridge Factory in 1925.
Lapua council maintains three museums and organizes diverse exhibition activities. All of the museums and exhibition rooms are located at Vanha Paukku. The undisputed pearl of the cultural centre is Lapua Art Museum opened in October 2006. There is also a library, an open college, a conservatoire, cinema and shops. Vanha Paukku is an interesting example of the transformation of old industrial premises into new uses, in a small town scale.
